LS Enrichment Programs 

Led by qualified teachers, LS Enrichment Programs (formerly known as After-School Clubs) provide LS students with after-school opportunities to engage with other students, build friendships across grades, and enrich their love of learning.

Spring 2019

General Guidelines:

  • Students will be guided toward their class between 3:30pm and 3:45pm.
  • After school snacks will be provided. 
  • Pick-up: in the LS Lobby or Field House (BBB)
  • Aftercare following Enrichment Program is provided free of charge until 6pm.

Mondays

Imagination Playground – Big Blue Blocks (BBB) (Grades PreK-1)

"Designed to transform children’s lives through play"
“An incredible play system for unlocking children’s creative spirit.”

The Imagination Playground encourages learning, movement, and social interaction. Join Rachel Wagner, trained Play Associate, on a imaginative adventure using 105 Big Blue Blocks. Through unstructured play with Big Blue Blocks, children build imagination, logic and mathematical skills, social and emotional development, and problem solving skills.   • When: Mondays, 4/8/19 – 5/20/19 (6 sessions - no class 4/15)

Mindfulness Mondays (Grades 2–5)

Start your week off right! Learn breathing techniques and yoga poses in a fun way! Enjoy different mindfulness activities each week. 

  • When: Mondays, 4/8 – 5/20 (no class 4/15 or 4/22)
  • Time: 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Epic Dice Adventures (Grades 4–8)

Epic Dice Adventures returns! Students will build fictional characters to play a tabletop role-playing game similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Players will exercise their imagination and problem-solving skills to survive harsh environments, outsmart and defend against wild beasts, and to solve puzzles that could be the difference between triumph and certain dooooom!

  • When: Monday AND Thursdays (11 sessions)

    Mixed-Media Clock MakingMakers Workshop Instructors (Grades 3–5)

    Creativity will run wild in this exciting hands-on workshop as students create their very own wall clock to take home and proudly display! Each week students will have the opportunity to explore different processes, equipment, tools, and 3-dimensional art mediums to construct components for their finished masterpieces. Subjects may include acrylic, woodworking with a CNC cutter, laser engraving, kiln-formed glass, metalworking, and painting techniques.

    • When: Tuesdays, April 9 - May 14, 2019

    Medieval Castle Creation
    Makers Workshop Instructors
    (Grades PreK-2)

    In this exciting workshop PreK and Kindergarten students will work over the weeks on a large 3-dimensional Medieval Castle that can then be taken home and used as a playset complete with furniture and figurines. Students will get the chances to explore working with paint, fabric, ceramics, decoupage, and more!

    Business Sharks (Grades 3-5)

    Play the role of young entrepreneurs as you start with the germ of an idea for a business and product and take it through the entire entrepreneurial process. Our students develop prototypes, formulate a business plan and devise a marketing strategy. Meanwhile, students learn through contextual lessons on concepts such as competition, profits and branding while designing print ads, acting out “TV commercials,” researching real estate locations and designing their storefronts. The class concludes with our young executives pitching their ideas to a "Shark Tank" panel of parents. These young entrepreneurs will really be taking care of business!

    Fridays 

    Introduction to Tennis (Grades 3–5)

    Join Middle School Tennis Coach, Lindsay Benoit for a fun Introduction to Tennis. Through games, players learn different tennis strokes, basic concepts, and rules of the game. Players should wear athletic shoes, bring a water bottle, and a racquet if they have one. Please let Carrie Whitney know if your child will need to borrow a racquet.

    • When: Fridays - 5 sessions - 4/12, 4/26, 5/3, 5/17, 5/24
