The objectives of French 1A are to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French while gaining an awareness and appreciation of the culture of France and other French-speaking countries. The most important goal of French 1A is to communicate in French.
French 1A is equivalent to the first half of Upper School French 1. French 1A students complete five chapters of the Bien dit! French 1 program, using print textbooks and workbooks and accessing embedded audio and video clips, self-correcting exercises and a wide variety of other resources from their iPads.
Every other year, students taking French at Bancroft Middle School have the opportunity to practice with our French-speaking neighbors in Quebec City and in Montreal by exploring each city and participating in a variety of excursions.
