MS Academic Support
Academic Support in the Middle School aims to provide an additional layer of support for any Bancroft Middle School students who need help with challenges in their academic classes, as well as students who have learning differences that require specific support or accommodations. Students have the opportunity to meet with the Academic Support Coordinator based on their specific needs to receive the appropriate help.
While any student can avail themselves of academic support, the need is typically identified by teachers, parents, and/or through information gleaned through specialized evaluation.
The role of the Academic Support Coordinator is to support student learning and enhance classroom instruction. Through communication with teachers, regular grade level meetings, and grades and comments, the Academic Support Coordinator creates a plan unique to the student.
The Academic Support Coordinator provides organizational support, offers study skills and test-taking strategies, works with the student on specific skills related to academics, encourages student communication with teachers, and communicates with parents, teachers, advisor, and outside tutors (if applicable). Students meet regularly with the Academic Support Coordinator as needed.
