A crowd of nearly 300 people roared with excitement on Saturday night when an $8M capital campaign goal was announced at Bancroft School’s renovated Field House. Attendees were moved by students exhibiting their work, alumni sharing stories of their Bancroft experience, and by the vision shared for the future of Bancroft School.
The evening began with former trustee Dix Davis receiving the Milton P. Higgins Award for Distinguished Service to Bancroft School in honor of his four decades of work on behalf of the School. The evening continued with speakers Ken Davenport ’90, Brad Gooch ’54, and Seth Garfield '75 who regaled us with memories from their time at Bancroft and reflected on the School's impact on their lives. In Ken's words, his Bancroft experience "was better preparation and a better education that what I received in college."
We know that space can drive learning. And, with $6.2M already raised in early gifts, we fast-tracked the renovation of several communal spaces like the Field House and Music Wing, created a Digital Media Lab and an Upper School math classroom, and expanded our college counseling space. Achieving our goal of $8M will allow us to move forward with our plan to create flexible learning spaces across campus that support the collaborative, project-based work that is a hallmark of Bancroft School. It will also fund our programs via the Bancroft Fund and our endowment, which provides us the flexibility to respond to opportunities.
Just as we teach our students the value of participating in life at the School, we ask that every member of our community participate in our effort to keep Bancroft out in front! We're excited for you to a part of it! Read more about the campaign goals here https://www.bancroftoutinfront.org/ and MAKE A GIFT HERE.
