June 2018 Newsletter

Dear Bancroft Friends,

The 2018 Lower School Closing, Middle School Closing, and Commencement Ceremonies were all magical occasions that reflected the joyful spirit of Bancroft. Filled with music and movement, each event featured student performances, supportive families, and faculty sharing their knowledge and love of their students.

Yet in true Bancroft fashion, each was uniquely tailored to the ages and stages of its honorees. The slideshows below capture some of the magic of the three events.

Milestones like these naturally bring to mind concepts of progress, advancement, and self-improvement. These themes surround us. We see our students moving toward their next adventures. We see faculty collaborating to enrich their programs. We see our community enjoying the fruits of our campus investments — the Commencement Ceremony in our beautifully renovated Field House was a splendid example.

Our neighborhood is on the move, too. You may know that Bancroft maintains the grounds at Shore Park in partnership with the City and the Greendale Y. It's part of being a good neighbor, and we're happy to do it. We are also happy to extend an invitation to the Shore Park Grand Re-Opening on June 27th. Also on the local horizon, Worcester is proposing roadway improvements to realign the choppy intersections at Shore Drive, Holden St. and Drummond Avenue (a public hearing is being held on June 18 if you want to have a voice.)

Investment, commitment, and sacrifice are part of achieving any long-term goal. Our seniors are headed off for amazing experiences in college and beyond because you, their families, made a bold decision to invest in their Bancroft education. Our School community, our neighborhood, and our city are all investing in people and infrastructure to ensure an even brighter future. Connected by a rich history, we are all moving forward together.

Here on campus, we're ramping up for lots more robust learning and activity this summer. Many familiar faces were back this week for basketball and strings camps, and the full summer program begins on Monday. Hope to see you there.

Best,

COMMENCEMENT 2018

Bancroft School's 117th Commencement

On Friday, June 8, 2018, we honored and celebrated the 58 members of the Class of 2018. We are so proud of these extraordinary young people — each of whom is gifted with unique strengths and talents — and so grateful to the families and loved ones who have supported their journey. Like the thousands of Bancroft alumni who have gone before them, our graduates are exceptionally well prepared for college, and so very READY to take on the challenges and delights that await them as lifelong learners, teachers of others, and citizens of the globe. Click the image above to enjoy memories of the day.

LOWER SCHOOL CLOSING

Lower School Closing, June 5, 2018

We are excited for all of our rising K through 5 students, but especially so for our newly minted Middle Schoolers — Bancroft's Class of 2025! Delightful scenes from the beautiful 2018 Lower School Closing celebration. Click the image to watch delightful scenes from the beautiful 2018 Lower School Closing celebration.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CLOSING

Middle School Closing, June 5, 2018

Our community came together for a festival of music and merriment as our 6th and 7th graders became 7th and 8th graders, and our 8th graders — the Class of 2022 — transformed into high school freshmen before our very eyes. Final Class Projects Create Lasting Memories

The annual 5th Grade Play (this year it was "The Grunch") and 8th Grade World Fair are the capstone projects for Lower School and Middle School. Both culminate with the entire class participating in final performances and a celebration with faculty, families, and friends. Enriched by their shared experience, each class rises into the next division with a greater sense of closeness and confidence. Click each image for a slide show of the event!
