Dear Bancroft Community,
The unpredictability of the pandemic never allows us to look too far down the line, but the latest data from our own testing, across the Worcester community, and at the state and national level show things trending in the right direction. The number of cases, positivity rates, and hospitalizations seem to be waning, which is indicative of the end of this surge. It was very promising that last week's testing produced only a single positive case.
While this news is encouraging, it is important that we continue to practice our good habits around health and safety that got us to this point. Please remember to stay home if you have any COVID-19 symptoms and maintain masking, distancing, and hand hygiene wherever possible.
Athletics Spectator Update
The Eastern Independent League schools have updated the policy regarding spectators at home games and will now allow each school to determine its own spectator policy. Starting on Monday, January 24, we will allow spectators at all Bancroft home games. Coaches will inform athletes and families about the policies for away games as they approach. Please remember that masks continue to be required inside all Bancroft home athletic venues.
Dining Service For Next Year
Navigating our temporary school-wide lunch program during the pandemic has proven challenging. We appreciate your feedback and recognize that the current lunch program has not been good enough. Next year, we will return to a full meal plan with service for all students and faculty in the dining hall. We are currently vetting catering providers, but we are confident that any of the vendors being considered would provide a dining experience that students and staff alike will enjoy. The quality of these potential partners and their vast experience working in schools is exciting, and we look forward to sharing more details once we reach a formal agreement.
You can expect regular communication from both Health Services and my Friday letter to continue in the coming weeks. Our collective diligence and flexibility have been critical to keeping our in-person learning program running smoothly. While we likely haven't seen the last of the bumps in the road with the pandemic, it feels like we are on the path to a more normal school experience. Thank you again for your continued support.
Best,
