Upper School – Bancroft School in Worcester, MA

In the years from 9th through 12th grade, Upper School students at Bancroft School in Worcester, MA will tackle ambitious course schedules, lead varsity teams to victory, and bring down the house in musical and drama productions – all while following trajectories through the college application process with individual guidance from counseling staff. 

Our rigorous liberal arts curriculum – combined with countless opportunities for scholarly, athletic, artistic, social, community, and global engagement – gives students the broad education required to succeed in the world’s top colleges and beyond. 

Inquiry-Based Curriculum 

While specific classes such as Science & Engineering Inquiry and Research & Historical Inquiry focus on the topic specifically, every class at Bancroft urges students to question and dig deeper. Students can choose from nearly 150 different courses in the arts, science, humanities, and athletics within our robust course catalog. Similar to a typical college model, the upper school schedule allows students to own their learning in a variety of ways – from tackling Shakespearean sonnets to spending one of the two daily free periods studying, catching up on homework, or forming a new club.

Senior Cooperative (Co-Op)

Every senior participates in a Senior Cooperative (Co-Op), a program in which students volunteer at an organization in Central Massachusetts, drawing on their academic and personal interests to make a meaningful contribution to the community. Seniors put their unique talents and skills to use in the real world, giving them confidence and a sense of purpose for future endeavors.
