A rounded education,
a grounded experience.
Welcome to Bancroft School's Admission Office Web Page. We are
pleased to be of service to you as you consider enrolling your child,
children, or yourself in central Massachusetts' premier independent day
school. We invite you to learn more about Bancroft by attending our Fall Open House on October 17, 2010.
Bancroft is the only independent college preparatory school for
grades kindergarten through twelve in central Massachusetts. Our nearly
600 students commute from more than 55 communities, from as nearby as
our own Indian Lake neighborhood to as far away as Ashburnham,
Framingham and Brimfield. They pursue their many academic,
extracurricular and athletic interests on a modern campus outfitted
with new computer labs, gymnasium, dining hall and theater, a modern
library, art and music studios, a well-equipped science building, and
much more. Most importantly, our students learn from a dynamic faculty
that thrives on challenging and supporting motivated students.
Over 100 years ago, Bancroft School was founded by a group of
Worcester parents who wanted to give their sons and daughters the
advantages of a rigorous academic experience. For the name of their new
school, they turned to one of Worcester's most illustrious native
sons-George Bancroft, a man of enormous intellectual accomplishments.
Since those early years on Elm and Sever Streets, Bancroft has
remained true to its founders' goal: to provide a demanding academic
program in a spirited and supportive atmosphere.
From designing, building and racing an electric vehicle, to traveling
to Canada or Mexico as part of an exchange program, to tagging and
releasing Monarch butterflies, read on to see what school can be!
Take your first Steps to Bancroft!
