As part of Bancroft School’s admission process, a parent visit and a student visit should be scheduled.  A tour and observation period may also be scheduled.  For Kindergarten applicants, an observation period is strongly recommended as part of the parent visit. At some point in the admission process parents may also like to meet with the appropriate school head.  Please check your child’s current school calendar to avoid scheduling a visit to Bancroft during a planned field trip or important test.

In order to receive first round consideration, all admission materials should be returned to the Admission Office by February 1st.

All visits should be completed by February 5th for Grades 2 - 12, February 18th for Grade 1 and February 19th for Kindergarten. We ask that you submit a  $50 application fee, per applicant, along with the application or at the time of the visit, whichever is completed first. All applicants to Bancroft’s Kindergarten program must be at least five (5) years of age before September 1st in the year they are to be enrolled.

For students applying to Grades 3-5, Bancroft will hold testing on February 7, 2009 at Bancroft School from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

*The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC III or IV) is required for those applying to Grades 2 through 5.  A suggested list of professionals who administer the WISC is available through the Admission Office.

**The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT)  is required for all students applying to the Middle and Upper Schools. You may register for the SSAT through the Internet at www.ssat.org or you may call the SSAT Information Center at 609-683-4440 to request a Student Registration Guide to use for registering by mail or fax.  Bancroft School will also have a limited number of Student Registration Guides available upon request. We also accept  the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) for our Middle School applicants.  You may register for the ISEE at www.erbtest.org/parents/admissions/isee . Since our deadline is February 1st, the SSAT or ISEE test must be taken on the November, December or January dates to allow time for the test results to arrive by this deadline.

It is the responsibility of the parents to arrange for the WISC and the SSAT or ISEE.
