K-12 Departments

Bancroft teachers set high standards while also letting children have
fun while learning. Our K-12 program allows our students to benefit
from a coordinated curriculum that encourages interdisciplinary,
student-centered instruction. Interdivisional projects include a book
project that pairs first graders with seniors, while interdisciplinary
initiatives include a joint History-English project on World Cultures.
In addition, an extensive curricular mapping program allows K-12
teachers in all departments to collaborate on the scope and sequence of
essential content, skills and assessments. Cross curricular writing
standards and common research guidelines provide a consistency of
instruction that maximizes student learning.

Guidelines and programs aside, the general spirit of collegiality and
love of children demonstrated by our experienced teachers best defines
our teaching. Teachers at Bancroft exude a contagious passion for their
subjects in settings as diverse as a Lower School reading group or
science lab, a Middle School advisory or math extra help session, and
an Upper School seminar elective or college preparatory Advanced
Placement course. The Bancroft classroom is simultaneously a place to
work hard and have fun, and our teachers are committed to fostering
academic excellence in each and every student.
