Dear Bancroft Students, Parents, and Friends: 

Over the last several months, any number of people have approached Anne and me and asked about our future plans and life after Bancroft. Many people have been under the impression that I have planned to “retire” after Bancroft. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I write to you today to announce my appointment as Head of School at Trevor Day School in New York City, effective July 1, 2014. Trevor Day School, Nursery through Grade 12, was founded in 1930 and enrolls about 835 students on its two campuses—one on the Upper East Side, a second on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Its mission speaks to educating students to engage in active learning and collaboration in a culture built upon mutual respect and the transformation of children to become lifelong learners.

I include for your perusal this announcement, which Trevor Day has sent to its community.

I am truly humbled to be moving on to Trevor and returning to my second home—New York—where Anne and I spent so many enjoyable years prior to coming to Bancroft. I am equally humbled by the kind comments and words of support from so many in this community as I have been on the circuit striving to find the right fit where I can do my best work over the next decade plus of my career.

There is so much good work to be done here at Bancroft in the coming months as we advance our Vision 2016 Initiatives and prepare for our new Headmaster Trey Cassidy’s arrival this summer. Know that I am still on the job, and looking forward to working with everyone in the time that remains in my headship to assure steady progress on our goals and to achieve a smooth transition of leadership in the Head’s office.
